Lake District Vs. Clermie. Hmmm. [24 Mar 2007|12:28pm]
[ mood | refreshed ]

Got an unexpected break from Uni as my placement doesnt start til Monday, so buggered off to the lakes for a few days wi [info]princealbert. Stayed a lovely wee cottage up in Coniston, waking up to spectacular views of the "old man" every morning. Talking about the mountain, not P.A!
Went for walks in Grizedale park which has wooden, stone and metal sculptures dotted all over the place. Some of them are hidden, and you have to find them as you walk around. This is a fab place to explore with amazing views as we climbed higher.

Another day we got on the Ullswater steamer for a stop than walked back a few miles to our start point. Stropped a bit because it was too late to do a massive walk and find standing stones, but soon realised that we had to climb a bloody mountain to get to them, so was soon happy to just enjoy the lowland walk. Which meant we spotted new born lambs, much awwwing from me, and a field of alpacas, including cute youngsters. More Awwww's. Photo's soon I hope.

And we randomly found a stone circle on oor way hame yesterday, just outside Keswick. Pretty chuffed now!

So feeling refreshed and happy to have got a break.

Arrived back to Clermie, saw Corstorphine Hill had been taped off and some guy getting walked off the hill by two others, I think he was handcuffed. Curious I thought, as my neighbour told me they had arrested the guy for last weeks shooting, confirmed when I checked the Scotsman webshite. However, had the roz at my door first thing this morning. Apparantly they're still looking for the gun. Ho Hum. Back to reality!

Call me Miss Whiplash... [10 Dec 2006|05:54pm]
[ mood | sore ]

OK, that would almost be funny, if it wasn't so painful.

Serves me right for playing dodgems in the car when the road's wet. Unfortunately the guy in front of me braked so suddenly, I skidded straight into him.
To make matters worse I was working, so I had a service user with me, and was more concerned that she was fine. (she is)

Thankfully the only real physical damage is to my motor, which is now in Loanhead wiv more bits falling off it. I've got a feeling it'll be written off though, dunno if it's worth fixing. Ironically it was a German driver. The last time I had an accident was in Germany on the way to Potsdam about 15 years ago. At least then I was driving a 7.5 tonner, which came off slightly better than my poor skoda.

Hmm. I know if I'm in pain now, it's likely to be worse tomorrow. Apart from ibruprofen, and a hot water bottle, theres probably not much else I can do.
Think I'm still in shock.
